This work was commissioned by my sister as our mom's birthday gift, but initial requests for a bouquet painting didn't work out as planned. Unsatisfied with the serenity of the cerulean tone of the canvas, I spilled white acrylic across both canvases. White acrylic, a mixture of yellow ochre, and gold glass paint was dabbed and swept around the margins of the canvases, and a sharp blade was used to slash across the canvases following the direction of the paints. Oil paint was used for the image of Michelangelo's The Pietà. The painting is created on two 10 by 14 inch canvases.
